Description

The Hilton London Euston hotel forms part of a group of five unique Hilton hotels which are formed of a series of converted townhouse properties in central London.

These unusual buildings boast fantastic original features and details and our Hilton London Euston site in the Bloomsbury area of London offers a four-star experience with 148 bedrooms set in a series of adjoining properties which are Grade II listed. Due to undergo an extensive refurbishment of the bedrooms, ensuites, and corridors and with conversion work proposed to create additional rooms at roof level, Occa Design came on board to provide interior design services, working closely with Hilton and with the design team.

The unusual style of this property saw Hilton brief a high-end design style which focuses on the heritage of the property and it’s location, with a step away from the contemporary design style typically seen in the current brand ethos. Taking influence from the Bloomsbury location as a creative and literary hub, we proposed a design concept rich in vintage details, warm finishes, and a strong local influence.

With our ‘story’ agreed, the bedrooms embrace the role of the hotel as a place of peaceful escape for current guests and in generations past. Bespoke freestanding furniture pieces were designed, adding a feeling of timelessness and reassuring solidity to the rooms. Ensuites boast rich marble style finishes and exposed chrome work offering a contemporary interpretation of a classic style and increasing the feeling of space in often small spaces.

Our material palette embraced the inky tones of the literary theme, vibrant accents in heritage tones and the solid materials of an era gone-by. Dark timbers, tinted glass, sumptuous velvets and brass details in a classic style finish the furniture perfectly.

The success of these rooms is in the inviting ambience and the feeling of escaping the hustle and bustle of the Capital. Almost boutique in style, the occasional anonymity of a large branded hotel is avoided through the strong sense of locality and heritage. Whilst small, the rooms are rich in the detail and luxurious touches that ensure that they are also perfectly formed.
