Morris & Spottiswood

July 2003

In 2003 the team at Morris & Spottiswood approached Occa Design to implement the interior design of their new Warrington offices.

The new property would be formed of an existing pavilion office which would be stripped back to shell and core, and then extended before being fully refurbished to a high standard in a contemporary design style.

With a company culture based on innovation and creativity, the Morris & Spottiswood team were keen to see these values reflected in the design concept.  The final design would be contemporary and vibrant and it would display a touch of humour, all in keeping with the positive outlook of the Morris & Spottiswood team.

Our remit covered all aspects of the interior design of the spaces – from interior architecture and space planning for a workplace environment to finishes, shopfitting, bespoke furniture and branded vinyl graphics which formed artwork throughout the building.  Strong shapes and clean lines formed a series of spaces which were each designed to suit their purpose, be it the reception area, meeting rooms, breakout areas or the offices themselves.

A vibrant colour palette of green, pink and orange was set against a monochrome backdrop of white wall finishes and grey flooring.  Light timber finishes add warmth to the design.  This uplifting palette was designed to contribute to the positive working environment of the Morris & Spottiswood team.

The interiors were well-received by the client team, meeting the brief and exceeding expectations.  The team felt that we successfully interpreted the eclectic nature and quirkiness of the company and that we had made a vast empty office space feel more personal.
