Warm, rich, classic, local influences were drawn on to deliver the design brief of our US based clients for their wonderful new apartment, with outstanding views, overlooking the Home of Golf in St Andrews.
APT 14 HAMILTON GRAND Heritage
With a prime location overlooking the Old Course in St Andrews, the Grand Hotel as it was originally known, was built by Thomas Hamilton in 1895, setting the benchmark for luxurious hospitality.
Following decades of mixed-use & neglect, the building was acquired by Kohler Co; the American owners of The Old Course Hotel. Between 2011 and 2013 Kohler invested significantly in the building, converting it into 27 private luxury apartments and renaming it Hamilton Grand.
APT 14 HAMILTON GRAND The Brief
Our brief for Apt 14 was to create a warm, welcoming and relaxed Scottish-inspired interior for our US-based clients – and avid golfing aficionados.
Drawing on the rich landscape, heritage and architecture surrounding Hamilton Grand in St Andrews and weaving in the history, location and culture of the Town, we created a classic and timeless interior, wrapped in Scottish textiles, art and the story of Golf.
HAMILTON GRAND Concept
Our concept for Apartment 14 was rooted in the colour, tone, texture and materiality found in the Victorian architecture of the building, the rugged landscape of the adjacent beaches and the rich history and unique golfing fame of the town of St Andrews.
We fused these influences together to create a distinctive and authentic Scottish Chic interior, layered with textiles, fixtures and fittings custom-made for the property.
APT 14 HAMILTON GRAND What We Did
Drawing on the energy & personalities of our clients, the OCCA Design team expanded on the rich Scottish Chic repertoire of Hamilton Grand, to deliver a striking, warm & welcoming personal space for the owners of Apt 14.
Bespoke joinery, flooring design & details, upholstery pieces and artwork galleries combine to create a unique and personal space in the heart of the home of golf.
Happy Endings The Results
We absolutely LOVE our apartment! From initial design concepts to turnkey installation of all the FF&E, the process has been effortless. The end result is everything we hoped it would be - and more!
