In 2013 Occa Design was appointed to provide interior design services for the ground floor rooms of this Festive Victorian Villa in the Southside of Glasgow.
The rooms included a hallway, lounge, formal dining room and drawing room. Our brief was to create elegant, timeless spaces which were rich and inviting.
The villa has some fabulous period features from the fireplace to the bay windows and the high ornate ceilings. With the owners being a family that loves to entertain our aim was to pay on the grandeur of the architecture to create rooms perfect for parties, but also to create rooms intimate enough for family life.
The stunning fireplaces set the scene for our interior styling. From the pewter finish in the dining rooms to the dark timber in the hallway and the light timbers in the drawing room. In the dining room, a palette of silver tones and chrome finishes with black cashmere upholstery are generously applied across an eclectic combination of new and traditional shapes and forms. The lounge has a warmer palette with rich leather and textiles creating an inviting ambience. Deep red colours create a dark and moody atmosphere in the hallway.
The generous layering of accessories creates stunning rooms which perfectly balance elegance with a welcoming appeal. Collections of lanterns adorn the rooms, perfect for entertaining. Chrome, silvers, bone, gold and glass all add sparkle and warmth.
With the festive season imminent, dressing of the rooms uses foliage, baubles, pine cones and candles to finish the spaces. Silver, red, white and gold all combine for a glamorous edge. Use of natural elements like pinecones creates a homely style which remains inviting.
The resulting rooms are elegant and atmospheric. Soft lighting creates warmth and intimacy, and the rich palette of tones and textures created depth and richness. From glamorous parties to family nights in the stylish spaces in this Festive Victorian Villa complete a fantastic family home.
