APT 18 HAMILTON GRAND Heritage
With a prime location overlooking the Old Course in St Andrews, the Grand Hotel as it was originally known, was built by Thomas Hamilton in 1895, setting the benchmark for luxurious hospitality.
Following decades of mixed-use & neglect, the building was acquired by Kohler Co; the American owners of The Old Course Hotel. Between 2011 and 2013 Kohler invested significantly in the building, converting it into 27 private luxury apartments and renaming it Hamilton Grand.
APT 18 HAMILTON GRAND The Brief
Our brief for Apt 18 was to create a warm and welcoming interior that responds to the unique location of the property while exploring Scottish interiors & textiles.
Based in France, our clients purchased the apartment as the global pandemic hit, and subsequently, there was a requirement for the full design process to go online and be conducted remotely.
HAMILTON GRAND Concept
Our concept for the apartment is influenced by the location, colours and materiality that surround St Andrews. Soft silhouettes, rich tactile materials and a gentle pallet of stone and smoky greens are mixed with eclectic furniture pieces that inject colour and character. to the space.
Natural timbers and leathers are layered with subtle checks and plaids and complemented by beautiful paisley textiles throughout to deliver a classic yet contemporary Scottish chic interior.
APT 18 HAMILTON GRAND What We Did
From the earliest concepts, the OCCA Design team worked through the architectural layouts deciding on all the key finishes. Each room was fully detailed and every element specified to enhance the Scottish Chic aesthetic.
From flooring packages to furniture packages to bed & bedlinen packages and everything in between, the OCCA Procurement team worked their magic, sourcing, purchasing and installing every item in the apartment, right down to the teaspoons in the kitchen.
