With four hotels in London and one in Liverpool, Resident's newest property in Edinburgh is already ranked in the top ten hotels in city. Drawing together innovative design and creative vision with heartfelt hospitality is what differentiates Resident as a brand with guests and teams.

Resident Edinburgh Background

Previously home to HMRC’s Scottish offices and dubbed by locals for decades as an “eyesore”, The Resident Edinburgh is a wonderful example of architectural adaptive reuse in the city, with the transformation of the retained 1960’s structure of the building to create a stylish 164 key home-from-home experience for guests – along with some spectacular views of the city and the castle.

Resident Edinburgh The Brief

Working closely with the owners and their interior designer’s Wish Interior Architecture, along with a primarily Scottish FF&E and OS&E supply chain, OCCA Procurement was tasked with delivering the FF&E and OS&E for the new hotel’s 164 stylish guestrooms, suites and public areas.

The Wish concept for the hotel aligned directly with Resident’s hospitality philosophy captured in the phrase:  “Arrive as a guest and leave as a local” incorporating the unique Resident kitchenette in every one of the guest rooms.

Resident Edinburgh What We Did

OCCA Procurement worked closely with Wish Interior Architecture and Resident CEO David Orr, to ensure their vision and ambitions for the hotel and guest experience were met.

With a unique concept for the guest rooms and public areas, OCCA Procurement’s role was to deliver the FF&E and OS&E that the design team had carefully and painstakingly curated.

A detailed Statement of Requirements for the project was developed, clearly defining the scope, deliverables and cashflow across the project duration.

Working alongside the Client Design Team, our FF&E team got to work on undertaking the product development tasks necessary to deliver the numerous unique & bespoke products in the scheme.

Next, we worked with our extensive supply chain to source and purchase the remaining furniture, fittings, equipment and accessories as locally as possible, leveraging our unique background and purchasing power to uncover the optimum products for the project.

From there we co-ordinated a custom logistics, warehousing and installation strategy to suit the project programme and deliver the most direct and cost-effective inbound transportation of the goods in Edinburgh.

Our turnkey, on-site installation team then moved in to assemble, position and style every element of the FF&E, ready for the first guest arriving.

OCCA were a valuable extension to the whole Resident Design Team. They are pro-active, well organised and completely respected our design direction, specifically when products were out of stock or needed to be re-specified - always going above and beyond the call of duty in assisting us. We would welcome the opportunity to work with OCCA again.
