Description

Occa Design was appointed by Dog Digital in 2012 to assist with the interior design of their new office premises at 20 Buchannan Street, Glasgow.

This Italian Renaissance, Grade B listed building was designed by John Hutchinson, with details drawn by Andrew Black & C R Mackintosh, in 1888-1889. Accordingly, our remit also included obtaining planning consent and listed building consent for adaptations to form meeting rooms and open-plan offices on the third and sixth floors of the building.

Operating as a Creative Digital Design Consultancy in the marketing and advertising industry, with international offices across the globe, the team at Dog Digital were keen to create spaces which were contemporary and quirky, reflective of Dog’s eclectic personality, and also flexible enough to accommodate their quickly-expanding team.

The resulting design merges the beautiful existing architecture of the spaces with contemporary glass walls and clean lines.  Shelving forms screening to segment the space without reducing flexibility, and crisp white paint finishes keep the corporate edge required of a working office.  Meeting spaces use exposed red brick walls and understated floor finishes to brilliant effect.

Occa Design worked alongside the Dog Digital team to assist them in curating an eclectic mix of loose furniture, in unusual fabrics and alternative shapes. Mid-century influences combine with quirky workplace furniture in vibrant tones, and a mix of materials from timber to metal to plastic.

The office has maintained its ability to adapt to the ever-changing nature of this creative consultancy.  Flexibility has been key to the success of this interior as both space requirements and team structures evolve. The finishes spaces are architecturally unique, stylish, quirky and very ‘Dog’.   In keeping with the ever-evolving nature of the business, Occa Design will return to the Dog Digital Offices in 2018 to create an open plan social space and kitchen for the Dog team.
