Our long-standing clients EDC made the decision to refurbish their existing Holiday Inn Aberdeen AEC hotel to create a classic and elevated interpretation of the Holiday Inn, suited to their client base and location in the North of Scotland.

The open-plan public areas follow the basis of the Holiday Inn brand concept with design development work creating an elevated offering in a refined design style. An elegant steak-house restaurant, bar and lounge in a glamorous open plan space were designed to appeal not just to hotel guests but also to the local community bringing something new and appealing to the Bridge of Don postcode. A palette of black timber, light porcelain, rich granite and neutral textured wall coverings flow through the spaces unifying the public areas and bedrooms and allowing guests to move seamlessly from across the open plan public spaces and into the cocoon of the bedrooms. Existing ceilings and roof lights are simplified and flooded with bespoke lighting.

Brand elements from the Holiday Inn Open Lobby Concept are reinterpreted in a classic style, from the Media Lounge to the Pop-up Lounge, all refurbished in an appealing neutral scheme, rich in texture and warmth, with understated patterns and accents. The interiors are both sumptuous and rich, designed to suit the hotel’s customer base which is primarily the business traveller. Bedrooms offer a cosy and inviting experience to visitors of the Granite City. Public areas are designed to offer a warm welcome in an elegant setting for those seeking respite from the often temperamental Aberdeen weather.

The exacting standards and high-end focus of EDC ensured that their properties exceeded the expectations of their hotel star rating wherever possible. The project for Holiday Inn Aberdeen AEC was no exception. Quality, comfort, style and location were the key focus of our design brief and direction throughout the project.
