This Edwardian Villa in Glasgow was renovated in 2009, creating a dream home for our client and their family.

The simple but beautiful existing Edwardian and Art Nouveau period features were retained and formed the basis of our concept. Stunning fireplaces, ceiling details, original doors, a feature staircase and other architectural features were faithfully restored to a high standard, maintaining the original styling of this traditional property.

With great attention to detail the Occa Design created a materials palette, embracing the existing solid timber floors, sourcing rich textured carpets, a bespoke stair runner and creating a neutral palette or understated heritage pain colours. Feature wallcoverings were selected and lighting carefully considered to set a welcoming tone. Generous high end window dressings in traditional styles add elegance and a sumptuous finish to the rooms.

An eclectic mix of timeless furniture pieces create a stylish yet lived in home concept. Wool finishes, leather and rich dark timbers are complemented by chrome table lamps and oversize mirrors.

The family’s own artwork collection features heavily throughout the home, from art by local contemporary artists to more traditional pieces and a vast collection of family photography. All have been thoughtfully curated throughout the home.

Accessories are layered generously throughout the house, from greenery to sculptures, candlesticks to lanterns. In addition the families collection of books is on display throughout the ground floor in quiet corners where kicking back with a book is enjoyed.

The bedrooms of this Edwardian Villa move away from the more muted palette. With three teenagers each bedroom was designed to suit the personality and interests of the person. The master bedroom is a peaceful and serene designed to offer occasional respite from the chaos of family life, should the opportunity even occur!

The finished rooms are comfortable yet elegant, making a style statement which expresses the family identity through the interior design whilst creating rooms which are welcoming and perfectly suited to family living, values which are important in the Westbourne home.
