Description
Eric Wright Construction appointed Occa Design to provide interior design services on the Holiday Inn Express Stockport Design & Build project on behalf of Interstate Hotels.
The site would implement the first new build Holiday Inn Express Gen IV concept, created by IHG as part of a completely new way of thinking about the traditional Holiday Inn Express product. Public areas, Corridors, Meeting Rooms and Bedrooms all formed part of our brief.
Situated directly opposite Stockport Train Station, and with extensive glazing to the public spaces, the kerbside appeal of the ground floor space was integral to the proposals. The new lobby concept creates one open plan space enabling hotel guests to move freely and seamlessly through the space, finding intimate corners or buzzing bars where they can eat, drink, relax or work. Meeting rooms are also visible from street level offering a broad appeal to business customers. Bedrooms follow the Gen IV design concept with unique corner rooms offering enlarged spaces in the brand style.
With a strong contemporary design philosophy, colours, materials and finishes fuse together to create a neutral backdrop enabling the contrasting brand colours to stand out as a confident expression of the brand, with natural timbers adding warmth and texture.
A curation of high and low seating and footstools, positioned on circular rugs helps define the spaces, creating a casual and relaxed ambience. The variety of low and high tables break up the open plan nature of the design, while the acoustic screens and wall panels create intimacy by dividing the space and adding to the atmosphere.
The inviting contemporary interiors welcome guests to Holiday Inn Express Stockport. Bright airy spaces and thoughtful interior architecture combine to create design-led spaces for informal meetings, socialising and relaxation. Well-considered bedrooms offer comfort with all the mod cons expected of a modern hotel bedroom concept.
