Description

Occa Design was appointed by RGB Construction, on behalf of Interstate Hotels, to implement the interior design scheme for Ibis Budget Luton Airport.

This site would be the first full new build Ibis Budget site in the UK to offer the new Ibis Budget bedroom concept. The new concept had been developed by Accor but no 3D visuals had been actioned which accurately portrayed the concept to a full and final stage.

A compact open plan space forms the Public Area. Reception and Buffet are central to a seamless furniture layout mixing bar, lounge and dining seating in large and small groupings. A vending area, workbench, and lounge complete the concept. Timber and glass screens and ceiling details create a feeling of solidity. Concrete effect feature panelling and bold flat wall colours further enhance this. The multi-purpose nature of the space ensures the interiors are designed to transition easily from day to night.

Bedrooms are simple and well-considered in design, from their multi-purpose wall unit to the additional fold down bed detail. Space is optimised, beds are generous and smart storage principles are applied.

A bold and vibrant colour palette carries through from the Public Areas to the corridors and bedrooms of Ibis Budget Luton Airport. Multiple colourways define seasonal ‘moods’ across the bedroom floors. Brand graphics are a key feature of the interior design concept, providing artwork and direction across the hotel. Fabric finishes are selected in keeping with the clean lines of the concept.

The simple, value for money ethos drives interiors which are cost effective but also well finished and thoughtful, focusing on key guests needs without compromising on the quality of the offer. The new bedroom concept provides bright and airy spaces, which are thoughtful effective. The opening of the hotel in 2017 has seen instant success with a constant stream of guests booked into the hotel.
