Description
The team at the Lychee Oriental Restaurant intended to transform a vacant retail unit in a recently renovated building into their flagship restaurant in Glasgow City Centre.
The Occa Design team accepted a brief to create a contemporary oriental dining experience, reflective of the stylish menu and with an Eastern influence.
In addition to the creation and roll out of an interior design concept, our remit included the interior architecture of the unit plus submissions and approvals for building warrant, listed building consent and signage consent. The ground floor would be formed as the restaurant and bar with the basement level providing the kitchen, stores and guest bathroom.
The open plan space at ground floor level saw intimate eating spaces created through the use of timber screens and a variety of booth seating. The use of mirror and glass create both movement and reflection, increasing the feeling of intimacy in an otherwise vibrant and busy atmosphere. Timber detailing with an Eastern influence enhances a feeling of richness. Neutral finishes enhance the shape and form of the elements of the dining space. Simple, matt wall finishes keep the crisp lines and contemporary feel of the interior architecture.
The finished interiors enhance the fusion of cultures and styles seen across the restaurant food concept. A tonal palette of neutral colours creates a calming and elegant backdrop for the stylish cuisine. Accents of vibrant green and dark pink are featured, referencing the lychee soapberry itself. Unique artwork and lighting from Hong Kong add the final finishing touches of understated contemporary elegance to the restaurant interior.
Since opening in 2013 the Lychee Oriental Restaurant has enjoyed a landslide of accolades and fantastic reviews. The interior style of the Lychee Oriental Restaurant has encouraged the development of a strong brand identity which has further supported its ongoing success.
