Description

Following the successful refurbishment of the Suburbia Bar & Restaurant, Occa Design returned to the Ramada Belfast to assist with the creation of an executive lounge, a requirement of the hotel’s transition from a Ramada property to a Ramada Plaza Hotel.

Two internal rooms were identified to be transformed into a high-end lounge area with an independent buffet.  The room would be a suitable for both relaxation and light business use, and access would be part of an elevated room offering.

An opening was formed to connect the two rooms and space planning looked at the creation of a softer area in one side, with the buffet and dining style furniture in the other.  Ceiling coffers were formed to provide diffused lighting. A small buffet was created at one end of the space, screened from the lounge with the installation feature timber bookcases.  Neutral wall finishes and warm timber floors are accentuated by a luxurious striped carpet.  Timber architraves, bookcases and display units add the richness and slightly more corporate feel anticipated in this elevated interior.

A variety of contemporary furniture shapes create a mix of seating in soft curves are upholstered in a mix of luxurious wool, velvet and leather finishes.  Dark timbers to loose furniture match those of the bookcases and feature screens.  Mirrors are used to great effect,  reflect light and movement in these internal rooms.  Floor and table lamps create atmospheric low-level lighting.

With the addition of this timeless, elegant executive lounge and the earlier the upgrade of the bar and restaurant, the Ramada hotel was successfully rebranded as a Ramada Plaza in 2010, and again in 2016 to Crowne Plaza Belfast.  Occa Design returned to the hotel in 2013 to assist with the soft refurbishment of the existing function suites, creating stylish suites suited to the hotels blossoming wedding market.  A later phase saw the creation of a new nail bar.
