Description

Occa Design worked extensively with Tune Hotels in the development of their Malaysian brand for the UK market, alongside our client Queensway Hospitality.

The brand focuses on creating best value limited-service hotels in key city locations with good transport links, offering small format rooms which appeal to a broad range of budget-conscious travellers. With comfort and convenience at the forefront of the brand concept, the approach focuses on providing the essentials without the fuss. Queensway Hospitality has rolled out five prime locations in London in addition to sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The Tune Hotels small format rooms and limited service public areas have been designed with both style and efficiency as the key considerations. Bedroom casegoods have been thoughtfully designed to maximise space ensuring that all the conveniences expected of a budget hotel are exceeded. High-quality beds ensure comfort. All rooms have ensuites with power showers. Although small, public areas are created as an inviting social hub in a contemporary design style.

The overall Tune Hotels look is contemporary, bright and fun. Occa Design has developed bedroom schemes suited to the small size rooms, using quality, budget-conscious finishes to great effect. Light finishes and the use of mirror. Fittings are simple and space saving. Red accent colours add flair to the design.

A local influence was implemented at each site. At Edinburgh Haymarket, a red tartan fabric is used on cushions in the public area. A bespoke graphic of a Scottish bagpiper marks the location of the lifts, creating individuality and a sense of location.

The hotels have operated successfully since opening, enjoying a consistent influx of guests keen to enjoy the benefits of good quality budget accommodation in central locations. Business travellers, leisure guests and large groups are all keen to use the brand Queensway Hospitality have recently rebranded the properties as Point A Hotels, following the same design ethos.
