Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen

The public areas of Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen AEC were refurbished in 2008, with Occa Design appointed by EDC to provide interior design services for the project.  The popular hotel is well situated, adjacent to the Holiday Inn and in walking distance of Aberdeen Exhibition Centre and is extremely busy throughout the year enjoying a mix of business and leisure guests.

The client brief requested a classic interior design concept, which would be warm and welcoming to those visiting the Granite City.  A high level of specification was to be applied. ensuring that EDC’s exemplary standards were met and that Holiday Inn Express brand standards were met and exceeded throughout.  The full Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen AEC public area refurbishment include the open plan lobby, buffet, meeting rooms and public bathrooms.  Meeting rooms were to be finished to a high standard with an appeal to the corporate market to optimise revenue potential.

The layout of the public area was reconfigured to refine the floorplan and ensure the seamless transition from space to space.  The strong lines of the interior architecture and shopfitting lead the way from reception through the open plan lobby, past the meeting rooms and through the restaurant area.  Dark timber wall panelling and feature screens break down the space and granite surface add richness to the palette. A neutral, classic palette creates an understated, timeless elegance and gold tones add warmth.  The use of greenery throughout the interiors create points of interest and adds a freshness to the warm interiors.

The Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen AEC hotel was extremely successful within the EDC portfolio and the elevated interpretation of the Holiday Inn Express brand standards ensured a busy ambience well suited to business travellers, external guests hiring the meeting facilities and to those attending events at the Exhibition Centre.  The high-quality specification is apparent throughout the interiors and creates a welcoming and inviting environment for customers.
