Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Chelsea Football Club

Chelsea Football Club brought Occa Design in to provide interior design services for both the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels which are situated at their ground in Stamford Bridge, London.  Works at the four-star Millennium Hotel included the refurbishment of the player’s lounge, restaurant and reception.  The four-star Copthorne Hotel would have the open-plan public areas and reception refurbished.

The reception area of the Millennium hotel was created in a contemporary, structured and minimal style.  A bespoke reception desk, with feature lighting, was installed.  Ceilings were lowered and rafts introduced to define the spaces.  The player’s lounge was updated with a vibrant colour palette and contemporary furniture shapes.  Booth seats create intimacy and high poseur tables were used to break the space down.  High-quality bespoke artwork, carpets and furniture were designed and installed throughout.  Stone feature walls add texture and rich timbers add warmth to the design.  The resulting spaces are appealing and relaxing.

The adjacent Copthorne Hotel is a firm favourite of the club supporters on match days.  Accordingly, the public areas of the hotel can be extremely busy and heavily used.  The new layouts required a level of practicality suited to use on these days but also the level of style and finish expected of the hotel at all times.  Occa Design created wide, open plan spaces with flexible seating which creates intimate spaces when required and can be moved to suit to high traffic and large groups. The interior scheme used club colours reimagined into bespoke carpets and furniture fabrics.  Warm timbers with linear detailing appear across the bar, reception and dividing screens.

The refurbishment project was a huge success for Chelsea Football Club.  The new interiors were welcomed enthusiastically by the client team, players, supporters and other guests who visit and stay at the hotels.
